Care needs are personal. I begin by listening, then discuss the support, skills and availability needed for your situation.
Company, reassurance and practical help with everyday routines, personal care and appointments.
Patient, individual support shaped around familiar routines, communication and changing needs.
Support following hospital discharge, illness or injury, coordinated around the agreed care plan.
Time for family carers to rest, with visiting, overnight and live-in arrangements discussed individually.
Plan support during your Algarve stay so care needs can be considered before you travel.
Compassionate practical and personal support, working alongside families and the professionals involved.
All arrangements depend on an individual assessment, carer competence and availability. Clinical care requires the appropriate healthcare professional.

I’m Michelle, an independent carer and the person behind Michelle’s Care Services. I provide care myself and help families coordinate support from independent, self-employed carers across the Algarve.
Originally from Weston-super-Mare, I worked in hospitality before following family members into care and working in care homes in the area.
After moving to Portugal and raising my children, I returned to care, working on a self-employed basis through agencies before developing Michelle’s Care Services.
Through that work, I saw how difficult it can be for families to find reliable support, particularly when loved ones live abroad. That experience shapes the personal approach I take today.
Good care begins with listening. I want to understand the person, their routines, their preferences and what helps them feel comfortable in their own home.
Dignity, kindness and respect matter in every interaction. Support should help people retain as much independence and choice as possible, while giving families clear communication and reassurance.
I speak directly with families about their circumstances, discuss care needs and preferences, and help coordinate suitable support with independent carers, subject to availability.
I remain involved in direct care. My experience includes supporting people living with dementia and Parkinson’s, personal care, companionship, recovery after hospital discharge, live-in care and palliative support.
Michelle’s Care Services coordinates independent, self-employed carers. Carers remain responsible for their own professional practice.

“MCS provide a caring friendly support package which is a big part of my life. I fell breaking wrist and hip. The carers and Michelle were immediately stepping in to identify my needs. Available 24/7 and teaching me to walk again. They have restored my confidence, we are back having fun and shopping. Care is at the heart of MCS.”
“I found Michelle’s Care Services through recommendations on Facebook. My mother lives in Portugal and I live in England… The whole process was made so much easier for all of us, and I’ll forever be grateful.”
“Michelle listened and formulated a realistic care package which was appropriate for my mum and us as a family. From day one Michelle and her team demonstrated a professional, caring and competent approach to looking after my mum. My mum loved both Michelle and the other Carer who also looked after her. I felt at ease leaving my mum, knowing I didn’t need to worry about the care and attention mum was receiving from Michelle’s team.”
“We are very pleased to recommend Michelle’s Care Services. We contacted Michelle when my father was recovering in hospital and we realised that he would need care at home as he would be bedridden. As a family, we knew we wouldn’t be able to provide the level of care he needed ourselves. Michelle is incredibly caring, knowledgeable and supportive. Two of her carers provided care for my father seven days a week, and he became very fond of them. “Very pleasant visit,” he said on one occasion. Having professional carers looking after my father gave our family invaluable support and peace of mind. Michelle was also always available for advice and reassurance throughout what was a very difficult time.”
“Nothing is too much trouble for the carers and they have made such a difference to our lives.”
“They are reliable, respectful and always go the extra mile to make sure he is comfortable.”
